Media about us:

As a cosmetics nerd who has to read a dozen clinical trial reports before trying something, I've never believed in the 'miracle' beauty innovations advertised by insta-celebrities.

That's why when my sister gifted me a jade face roller one day - sceptical as ever, I put it back on the shelf and forgot about its existence. Until...

One evening I noticed that my partner, a little out of curiosity and a little for a laugh, had started using this roller. After a few weeks, his skin looked more relaxed, firmer and radiant. The puffiness under his eyes had also completely disappeared. I thought I had to try it myself.

I started experimenting with the jade roller on my face. And what did it turn out to be? I fell in love with this tool. Since then, the roller has become an integral part of my daily skincare regimen.

The roller has become a part of my skincare routine.

In this article, I'll tell you how to choose the right roller for your skin, how to use it correctly and what benefits you can gain from regular facial massage.

How to choose the right facial roller

.

Facial rollers are becoming increasingly popular as skincare tools. There are several types, which vary in material, size and shape. When choosing the right roller, pay attention to the needs of your skin and the results you want to achieve.

Roller types

.

Jade

.

Also known as the jade roller, it has a cooling and soothing effect, ideal for sensitive and redness-prone skin.

Mountain horn

.

Otherly obsidian roller - has an energising and rejuvenating effect, suitable for mature skin.

Rose quartz

.

Has a relaxing and soothing effect, and helps to combat dark circles and puffiness under the eyes.

Stainless steel

.

Has a cooling effect, similar to jade, but is more durable and easier to clean.

Choose the material of the roller depending on your skin needs:

.

  • Sensitive skin: jade
  • .
  • Mature skin: mountain horn
  • .
  • Skin with signs of fatigue: rose quartz
  • .
  • All skin types: stainless steel
  • .

Comparison of sizes and shapes of rollers and their applications

.

  • Large rollers are ideal for massaging larger areas of the face, such as the forehead or cheeks.
  • Large rollers are ideal for massaging larger areas of the face.
  • Small rollers are suitable for working around the eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Small rollers are suitable for working around the eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Some rollers have a larger tumbler on one side and a smaller tumbler on the other, allowing the tool to be adapted to different areas of the face.

Facial rolling: how to use a facial roller step by step

.

Preparing the skin

.

Before massaging, make sure your face is cleansed and dry. Then, apply a suitable product, such as a serum or oil, to the skin to allow the roller to glide better over the face and increase the benefits of the treatment.

How to hold the roller and direction of massage

.

Hold the roller with both hands, one hand should hold the handle and the other should gently support the skin. Start the massage from the centre of the face, guiding the roller towards the edges, always using movements from the bottom up and from the centre outwards to stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage. Apply light but firm pressure to the skin, avoiding excessive pulling or tugging.

Facial massage (rolling)

.

    .
  • Face: Start at the eyebrow line and move the roller towards the hairline, from the centre towards the temples, then repeat the movements along the forehead.
  • Eye area: Gently move the small roller around the eyes, starting from the inner corner of the eye, under the eyes, up to the outer corner. Then move the roller towards the temple, repeating the movements for the upper eyelid.
  • .
  • Cheeks: Start from the nose, moving the roller towards the temples and jaw, making upward and outward movements to enhance the contour of the face.
  • Beard: Slide the roller from the chin along the jawline towards the ears, stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage in this area.
  • Neck: Starting from the décolletage, move the roller upwards along the neck towards the jawline, always working from the centre outwards.

Treatment duration and frequency of roller application

.

The roller facial massage should last approximately 5-10 minutes. You can use the roller on a daily basis, however, for sensitive skin or skin prone to irritation, it is recommended to limit use to 2-3 times per week.

Remember that regularity is the key to success - the more often you use the roller, the better results you will achieve. Over time, you will notice an improvement in the appearance of your skin, and the treatment itself will become an enjoyable part of your daily skincare regimen.

Please remember.

Practical tips for using a facial roller

.

Chill the roller in the fridge before use

.

To enhance the cooling effect and reduce puffiness, you can store the roller in the fridge for 15-30 minutes before treatment. The cool stones on the roller will further accelerate the lymphatic drainage and anti-inflammatory effect.

Wet or dry use of the roller

.

You can use the roller on dry skin, however, we strongly recommend applying a product, such as a serum or oil, to help glide the roller over the skin and increase the benefits of the treatment. Avoid using the roller on wet skin as this can lead to irritation.

Clean and disinfect the roller after each use

.

To maintain hygiene and avoid bacteria breeding on the roller, make sure you clean it regularly. After each use, clean the roller with mild soap and warm water, then dry it with a paper towel. Every so often, disinfect the roller with isopropyl alcohol.

Contraindications to the use of the roller

.

Roller should not be used on skin with purulent acne, open wounds or active infections. If in doubt about the use of the roller, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist.

Potential benefits of facial rolling

.

Improve circulation and oxygenation of the skin

.

Facial roller massage helps to stimulate blood circulation, leading to better oxygenation of the skin and a natural glow.

Reduction of swelling and puffiness

.

Lymphatic drainage aided by the roller massage helps to reduce swelling and puffiness, especially around the eyes.

Enhancing the absorption of cosmetics

.

Using the roller after applying facial products, such as serums and oils, helps them to be better absorbed by the skin, increasing their effectiveness.

Relaxation and muscle tension reduction

.

Facial roller massage helps to relax tense facial muscles, which contributes to the reduction of facial wrinkles and an overall feeling of relaxation.

Stimulation of collagen and elastin production

.

Regular use of the roller can stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for skin firmness and elasticity. As a result, the skin becomes firmer, tighter and more youthful.

Summary

.

.
  • Facial rollers can bring many benefits to the skin if used correctly and regularly.
  • By choosing the right roller, using it according to the instructions and taking care of its hygiene, a facial roller massage can become an enjoyable and effective part of your daily skincare routine.
  • We encourage you to experiment with different types of rollers to find the one that best suits your skin's needs.
