What is the best moisturising cream?

The best moisturisers contain the right ingredients for your skin type. Hyaluronic acid intensively moisturises, peptides regenerate the skin and vitamins (e.g. E and C) neutralise free radicals. And ceramides promote moisture retention in the skin. A good moisturiser also has a protective UV filter.

How to choose a moisturiser for the face?

.

Magister of cosmetology Paulina Chylinska answers how to choose the right moisturiser for your skin.

If you have dry skin

.

Dry skin needs ingredients that lubricate and replenish cellular cement. If you have this skin type, choose facial moisturisers that are high in paraffin, petroleum jelly, mineral oils, glycerin, ceramides and cholesterol. On the other hand, slightly lower may be urea, hyaluronic acid and lactobionic acid.

If you have oily and combination skin

.

Oily and combination skin also needs adequate hydration. A lack of water in the complexion leads to increased sebum production, which can result in imperfections. If you have oily or combination skin, ingredients that are key are lactic acid, allantoin, hyaluronic acid and urea. Other ingredients like paraffin wax, petroleum jelly, mineral oils, glycerine, ceramides and cholesterol should be at the bottom of the list.

.

External moisturisation can often be insufficient. Remember to moisturise your skin from the inside too. Everyone should drink a minimum of 1.5 litres of water per day.

What is a facial moisturiser?

.

Moisturising cream is a cosmetic that protects the skin from water loss. It also prevents wrinkles and dryness. It contains nourishing and occlusive ingredients. Restores comfort to dehydrated skin, and strengthens its protective barrier. Ideal for daily care. Apply morning and evening for a good effect.

.

Facial moisturiser - why use it?

.

Skin that does not receive adequate moisturisation becomes dry and rough. Such is life. A facial moisturiser will help you create a protective barrier against cold and dry air. This will protect your complexion from irritation and also moisturise it by increasing its ability to retain water.

How to care for your skin?

.

Cosmetics alone may not be enough. Here are some tips on how to look after your skin.

How to take care of your skin?

  1. Protect yourself from the sun. When you expose yourself to UV rays, always apply facial sunscreen. What's more, it's a good idea to stay in the shade between 10am and 4pm on sunny days.
  2. Do not smoke. Smoking makes the skin age faster and wrinkles deeper. Smoking damages collagen, an essential building protein in the body.
  3. Treat your skin gently. Not using the right products (moisturisers and lubricants) when shaving or using harsh cleansers can lead to skin damage.
  4. Care for a healthy diet. A balanced menu full of vitamins and minerals will make you feel better and look at yourself in the mirror with pleasure. Particularly make sure you consume fruit, vegetables or whole grain products, as well as lean protein.
  5. .
  6. Limit stress. Excessive stress makes your skin sensitive and acne pimples appear much more frequently. Make sure you get a healthy night's sleep and try to limit your stress, and if you feel there is something wrong with your mental health - see a doctor.

Dry skin - what is worth bearing in mind?

.

People with dry skin should take special care of it. If this is your skin type, avoid air conditioning and heated air. What's more, prolonged exposure to the sun or visits to a solarium can also adversely affect your skin.

.

The choice of cosmetics is also not insignificant. When you choose a foundation for dry skin, make sure it has additional moisturising ingredients (e.g. hyaluronic acid or ceramides). Cleansers (foams, gels or micellar lotions) also need to be gentle - stay away from products that contain alcohol.

What to do when you have dry skin?

What else to do when dealing with dry skin?

.

Tips for people with dry skin:

  • Limit baths to 10 minutes and do not use hot water.
  • Take baths for 10 minutes.
  • Use allergen-free soaps and preferably use emollients.
  • Use moisturisers.
  • Use moisturisers before shaving.
  • .
  • Cover most of your skin on cold and windy days.
  • .

How to make a moisturiser for your face?

.

If none of the above products appeal to you or you just fancy experimenting, check out this recipe for homemade facial moisturiser. A few ingredients and a few tens of minutes of work separate you from your own preparation.

Ingredients:

  • 35 ml chamomile infusion,
  • .
  • 15 ml sunflower oil (cold-pressed),
  • .
  • 2.5 g Olivem 1000 (emulsifier for the cream).
  • 2.5 g Olivem 1000 (emulsifier for the cream).

Preparation:

.
  1. Prepare two chamomile tea bags, pour boiling water over them and leave to stand for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Prepare two chamomile tea bags, pour boiling water over them and leave for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Pour the sunflower oil into a saucepan and place it over a pot of water heated on a burner (in the same way you melt chocolate).
  4. Pour the sunflower oil into a saucepan and place it over a pot of water heated on a burner (in the same way you melt chocolate).
  5. Heat the oil to about 75 degrees, pour in the emulsifier and stir with a spatula.
  6. .
  7. When the oil and emulsifier are combined, pour the chamomile infusion into a saucepan and stir vigorously.
  8. .
  9. The emulsion should start to turn gently white, stir constantly but do not heat the preparation in the saucepan.
  10. .
  11. After a few minutes, place the saucepan in cold water to start cooling the emulsion.
  12. .
  13. If you wish, at around 40 degrees, additional active ingredients, vitamins or essential oils can be added to the emulsion.
  14. .
  15. As the cream cools, pour it into a pre-burned jar, cap it and put it in the fridge.
  16. .

Preparation retains its properties for approximately 2 weeks.

.
.

Remember

.

The presented recipe for facial moisturiser is one of the simplest recipes. If you have more time, you can add other ingredients (mentioned above) to your preparation that will also support your skin.

Have fun, but remember this is just an experiment!"

.
I personally do not recommend preparing moisturisers yourself. You can get many creams on the market at a really great price. None of us will make a better preparation in the kitchen than one that technologists have been working on for many months. What's more, we won't have a guarantee that the product is free of impurities. Using self-made creams can cause us more problems than good.
.

.
.

What to do when cream isn't enough - moisturising masks

.

Regular use of facial moisturisers may not be enough. In such cases, it is worth trying a moisturising mask. It should be applied at least once a week. The mask should be applied to clean, dry skin and any excess should be wiped off with a tissue after a few minutes or so.

People with skin problems may find this mask insufficient.

People struggling with dry skin can apply the moisturising mask even overnight.

.

Note

Remember not to apply a moisturising mask too close to the eyes. It may inadvertently irritate them.

.
If your skin remains dry despite using moisturiser, see a specialist. Acting on your own and trying to "self-treat" will not work.

FAQ

.
. Where to buy facial moisturiser cream?.

You can buy facial moisturiser in most drugstores, such as Rossmann (you will find Cetaphil there, for example). In addition, some pharmacies also offer moisturising creams. However, you will find the largest selection when it comes to cosmetics on the internet.

.
. What should a good moisturiser contain?.

A good moisturiser should contain:

.
  • humectants (e.g. glycerine, hyaluronic acid),
  • .
  • occuliants (e.g. petroleum jelly, vegetable oils),
  • .
  • emollients (e.g. shea butter, jojoba oil),
  • .
  • antioxidants (e.g. vitamin E, green tea),
  • soothing ingredients (e.g. aloe vera, allantoin),
  • .
  • regenerative substances (e.g. ceramides) and UV filters (e.g. zinc oxide, titanium dioxide).
. Does a facial moisturiser do anything?.

Yes, a facial moisturiser can support the condition of the skin. Use it to provide your skin with the ingredients it needs. Moisturising cream provides hydration, protection from external factors and improves the texture of the skin.

Choose the right cosmetic for your skin type and apply morning and evening on cleansed skin.

. Does a facial moisturiser have to be expensive?.

A facial moisturiser does not have to be expensive. You can find good, economical alternatives on the market. When choosing a cosmetic, focus on its ingredients and match it to your skin's needs.

Choose products with humectants such as glycerine, hyaluronic acid or aloe vera, which attract water to the skin. In addition, emollients such as vegetable oils, shea butter and stearic acid maintain hydration by creating a protective barrier.

. What creams clog pores?.

Creams that tend to clog pores contain heavy occlusive ingredients such as petroleum jelly, mineral oil, silicones or some vegetable oils. These substances form a layer on the skin and prevent moisture loss, but they can also block pores, leading to blackheads and pimples.

To avoid clogging pores, look for creams labelled as non-comedogenic or oil-free. Choose lightweight, gel-like moisturisers for oily or combination skin.

. How to shrink pores on the face with home remedies?.

To shrink pores on your face with home remedies, follow these steps:

  • Cleansing - wash your face twice a day.
  • Cleansing - wash your face twice a day.
  • Peeling - use enzyme or chemical peels 1-2 times a week.
  • Peeling - use enzyme or chemical peels 1-2 times a week.
  • Moisturising - moisturise your skin with a light, non-clogging cream.
  • .
  • Home masks - use clay or egg white masks to cleanse pores and reduce their appearance.
. Why does moisturiser burn?.

Moisturising cream can burn for several reasons:

  • Individual allergic reaction or irritation. Your skin may be sensitive to the ingredients in the cream, causing irritation and a burning sensation.
  • Individual allergic reaction or irritation.
  • Sensitivity of the skin. Your skin may be dry, irritated or damaged, making it more sensitive.
  • Acidic ingredients. Some creams containing acids (e.g. AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C) may cause a slight burning sensation, especially when used for the first time or on irritated skin.

To remedy this, carry out a test on a small area of skin before applying the cream to the whole face. If the burning sensation persists, consider changing to a different cream with a milder formulation, possibly consulting a dermatologist.
