How to choose good weight loss pills?

.

First of all, determine the causes of your weight problems. Go to your GP and clinical nutritionist, who will order the necessary tests and make a diagnosis. Only in this way will you be able to select effective solutions - including medication and supplements.

In cases of extreme obesity, prescription medication will be an option, which you will take under the close supervision of your doctor.

If you opt for supplements or OTC medicines, rely on well-known, reputable brands. Strictly controlled manufacturing is crucial for your safety.

If you choose supplements or OTC medicines, rely on reputable brands.

If you want to choose a dietary supplement, it is worth looking into a few things. Ilona Krzak, M.Sc. in pharmacy, recommends paying attention to the following points:

  • composition - the shorter, the better;
  • .
  • standardisation and form of active ingredient - better that it is an extract than a powdered raw material;
  • .
  • additions of vitamins and minerals - should be in well absorbed forms, such as chelates;
  • .
.
What does it matter if you have, for example, 100 g of magnesium oxide in a supplement with the statement 500% of the daily requirement, if you only absorb a fraction of this amount? In another supplement you will have, for example, 50 g of chelated magnesium, whose bioavailability is 90%, and your body will absorb almost all of it. Choose wisely!

What ingredients to look for in weight loss supplements

.

Both experts agree on one thing: when choosing a weight loss product, it is best to look for those with the most natural ingredients.

This is a list of recommended substances that should be included in such a product:

    • citrus and guarana extractsand - accelerate caffeine metabolism;
    • .
    • chromium - has appetite suppressing properties and supports carbohydrate metabolism;
    • .
    • green barley (or other sources of fibre) - swells in the stomach and provides a feeling of satiety, thus counteracting overeating and aiding digestion;
    • .
    • cayenne pepper - ideal sources of capsaicinand, which aids digestion and metabolism;
    • .
    • green coffee - regulates glycaemia;
    • .
    • black pepper - increases the secretion of digestive juices;
    • .
    • cinnamon - unfortunately, this one doesn't count in apple pie. There are studiesand suggesting that the active ingredients in cinnamon may affect insulin receptors and GLUT4, improving glucose entry into the cell. One effect of insulin resistance is that cells become insensitive to insulin and prevent glucose from entering cells to be used for energy production.;
    • berberine - improves glycaemia and carbohydrate metabolism;
    • .
    • Malabarum tamarind (Garcinia cambogia) - lowers insulin and leptin levels, and has anti-inflammatory effects, and hydroxycitric acid (HCA) obtainedand from it has properties that accelerate fat metabolism in our bodies, and also inhibits fat synthesis from food;

  • L-carnitine - acceleratesand fat burning and boosts metabolism;

.

  • white mulberry - reduces carbohydrate and starch absorption;

.

  • glossy cola (Cola nitida) - acts as a thermogenic, accelerates metabolism and suppresses appetite;

.

  • raspberry extract - increases norepinephrine activity and improves metabolism;

.

  • green tea and yerba mate (holly), caffeine - effectively stimulate, abolish fatigue, stimulate thermogenesis and boost metabolism

.

  • stevia/erythritol - low- or no-calorie alternatives to sugar.

What really works for weight loss? Opinion and advice from a nutritionist and pharmacist

.

If you want to shed weight, the most important thing will be a calorie deficit. Let's not kid ourselves - the fewer calories you provide, the faster you will lose weight. Action in this area is best started under the guidance of a specialist. But is this the only key to success?

.
Besides a deficit, the most important things are consistency and patience, as well as motivation to lose weight and learning healthy eating habits. Losing weight is the first half of success. After that, the most important thing will be to maintain the result achieved. In this case, nutrition education and working on habits will be the most important - no pills will teach you that.

Losing weight is a process in which a strong will, a healthy mind, as well as a good relationship with others and oneself (also with food) will be important - that's why it's advisable to seek the advice of a psychodietitian at the very beginning of your journey.

When it comes to weight loss remedies, the principles are extremely simple.

.

.
The best weight loss remedies will, of course, work best in the form of a drug - you usually need a doctor's prescription for these, as they are potent hormonal or centrally acting substances.

When it comes to supplements, it is worth using those that improve carbohydrate metabolism and reduce blood glucose levels. "Sugar is the scourge of our time, it is everywhere and in everything. We often consume it completely unconsciously, which is why the problem of insulin resistance is on the rise, and it's only a small step away from diabetes," warns Ilona Krzak.

.

Eat products rich in fibre and bulking agents. They normalise digestion and intestinal peristalsis and, in addition, give you a feeling of satiety - in this way you will cheat your hunger centre a little and your craving for calorie-laden snacks will decrease.

The following is an example of this.

Do weight-loss pills slim you down?

.

When faced with a choice of weight loss remedies, you may be asking yourself, "Are weight loss tablets effective?". Many advertisements and promotional strategies promise miraculous results, but are primarily based on our ignorance.

One thing we need to tell ourselves right away. As always, there are no miracles.

There are no miracles.

.
Even the best supplements or medications for weight loss will have no effect without the right amount of exercise and a balanced diet.

This type of products should be considered as a supplement to weight reduction, which must consist primarily of a caloric deficit - only then do we lose weight.

Weight loss tablets may be helpful throughout the weight loss process, as long as you take care with your diet and physical activity. However, they should never be the most important part of the process.

"Even if it is herbal and natural, it is important to use it as directed, and it is a good idea to consult a relevant specialist before starting supplementation," advises Julia Skrajda.

.

Are weight loss supplements safe?

.

Diet supplements based on natural extracts are safe to use. One should always bear in mind the indications of a specialist and the dosage suggested by the manufacturer.

Supplements that are based on natural extracts are safe to use.

The situation is similar with medical devices and medicines. Several dangerous preparations, such as Adipex or Meridia, have been withdrawn from the Polish market in recent years due to their risky side effects.

Healthy living is a good thing.

Healthy eating habits - how to implement them in yourself?

.

As we mentioned earlier, both in the process of weight loss and in maintaining your dream weight, it will be crucial to implement the right eating habits in your daily routine.

Each person's story and needs are individual, however, clinical nutritionist, Julia Skrajda has prepared some practical tips that you can apply to yourself practically from now on:

  • Make sure your meals are regular: ideally you should eat every 3-4 hours - this prevents overeating, reduces the urge to snack, regulates digestion, and promotes satiety control;
  • .
  • Drink at least 2 litres of water a day: whatever the season, our body needs this for optimal ventilation and proper functioning of organs and skin. The best dose will be 30 ml of water for every kilogram of body weight. This is also important because the first symptom of drinking too little water - even when maintaining a deficit - is weight retention. Consequently, it may even increase. After all, the body has to obtain it, even when you are not supplying it.
  • .
  • Physical activity: here the rule is simple - any physical activity is better than none. Even if you don't have the time or inclination to exercise for 30-40 minutes every day, start with small changes. For a good start, let it be parking or getting off the tram 2-3 stops before work, taking the stairs instead of the lift, or doing a few squats and jumping jacks while working at your computer. Just get started. And be regular about it.
  • .
.
Don't push yourself. Approach physical activity with ease and understanding. Consistency? Yes, but not by force! If you feel you can't cope today and want to rest - do it. Be good to yourself and be patient. The most important thing is the way, not just the destination.

  • There are a number of different ways to lose weight.
  • There are both dietary supplements, medical devices, OTC drugs and prescription drugs available on the market to aid weight loss.
  • .

FAQ

.

Now check out what others ask most often!

Illegal weight loss pills - what to look out for? .

In recent years, a number of illegal pills and substances have appeared on the Polish market (mainly online) that are dangerous to health and life. The most dangerous pills and drugs for weight loss are: Adipex Retard, Meridia, DNP and tapeworm egg tablets - all of which have been withdrawn from Poland.

. Which weight loss tablets to take with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's? .

Both with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's disease, it will be necessary to consult a clinical nutritionist who, based on the results of the tests and a special history, will determine the best solutions - from a personalised diet to effective supplementation or (if necessary) pharmacotherapy.

. What weight loss tablets can be bought from a pharmacy? .

You can buy a number of weight loss aids from pharmacies in the general public. These will range from dietary supplements, medical devices to prescription drugs. Buying such preparations from a pharmacy is safer than from drugstores or online shops. Always pay attention to the manufacturer, composition and standardisation of ingredients.

. What do you lose the most weight from? .

In weight loss, the most important things are a calorie deficit, a balanced diet, healthy eating habits and physical activity. Weight loss is best started under the guidance of specialists after research has been done. The diet and training plan should be matched to your ability, fitness, health and the goal you want to achieve. The optimal rate of weight loss is about 1-2% of body weight per week.

. Are there any weight loss pills with amphetamines? .

Among the weight loss drugs that have been withdrawn from Poland is Adipex. Its active substance is fentermine, which is one of the amphetamine derivatives. Do not use such specifics - for legal and health reasons.

. What weight-loss pills can I use while breastfeeding? .

For the sake of lactation and baby's development, breastfeeding mums should not use any calorie reduction during the postpartum period (i.e. for about 6 weeks after giving birth). The first 2-3 months after delivery is the time when lactation stabilises, so any diet and physical activity should be consulted with a dietician and physiotherapist.

. What weight loss tablets can I take if I have high blood pressure? .

Preparations with L-carnitine (acceleration of fat metabolism) and CLA are recommended for people with hypertension. It is also worth looking for preparations with hydroxycitric acid, which provides a feeling of satiety.
