History of Christmas gift giving

.

The tradition of giving gifts at Christmas has deep-rooted origins that date back to ancient times. Despite appearances, the history of this custom is not so simple, as it has been influenced by different cultures and religions over the years.

Ancient times

.

The ancient Romans celebrated the so-called Saturnalia, which took place from 17-23 December, honouring the god Saturn. It was a time of equality and reconciliation, when social differences - for example between masters and slaves - were blurred.

Romans offered sacrifices to Saturn, and great feasts were held in the cities. The inhabitants also exchanged small gifts among themselves in the form of clay figurines, wax candles or simply good food. This tradition dates back to BC and initiated the giving of gifts "at Christmas".

Christmas

.

The tradition of giving gifts at Christmas is often linked to the biblical story of the Three Kings. According to it, after the birth of Jesus, the Three Kings went to Bethlehem to pay homage to the newborn Messiah. They brought with them three very important gifts: gold, frankincense and myrrh.

The giving of gifts at Christmas also derives from the legend of Father Christmas. Saint Nicholas, also known as Saint Nicholas of Myra, was a bishop who lived in the 4th century in what is now part of Turkey.

Saint Nicholas, also known as Saint Nicholas of Myra, was a bishop who lived in the 4th century in what is now part of Turkey.

Considered a saint because of his extraordinary generosity, he often gave gifts to those in need. One of the most famous legends says that one night he threw bags of gold through a window to provide dowries for three poor sisters.

There is no doubt that he was a saint of the world.

It is difficult to say which story contributed more to the current tradition of gift-giving at Christmas. Most likely, however, both had a strong part in it.

Victorian era

.

The Victorian era in 19th century England made the tradition of exchanging gifts at Christmas even more popular. It was a time when a lot of attention was paid to family and children, and gift-giving became part of this trend.

When you want to give something more - DIY gifts

.

In a time full of mass production, self-made gifts, otherwise known as 'DIY' ( Do It Yourself, or do it yourself), can be an especially nice surprise.

Giving someone such a gift is not only an expression of creativity, but above all a way to show that this person is special to you, because you have devoted your time and energy to create something one-of-a-kind. Below you will find some interesting suggestions for DIY gifts.

Crochet hat

.

How to make one?

.

Crocheting a hat is a process that requires several steps. The first step is to choose the right pattern - there are many free patterns available online for people of all skill levels.

You will also need to decide what type of yarn you want to use - different types have different properties that can affect the look and comfort of the finished hat. Once you've chosen your yarn, it's time to get your crochet hook - choose the size you need according to the guidelines on the wool packaging.

Place your crochet hook in the right place.

After you have bought the right tools and materials, you can start preparing the different parts of the hat and stitching.

Why is it cool?

.

A crochet hat is a gift that exudes care and dedication. There is a little love intertwined with patience and determination in every stitch. Besides, beanies are extremely practical - after all, everyone needs warm and comfortable clothing for the cold months.

Who to give it to?

.

The crochet beanie will be a perfect gift for any person who appreciates handicrafts and unique, unrepeatable items. It will work great as a gift for a loved one - parent, partner, friend or child. Just remember to take into account the colour preferences and clothing style of the loved one you intend to gift the hat to.

.

Self-decorated mug

.

How to make one?

.

Prepare a white mug, decorations in your favourite colour, a primer (such as Mod Podge glue), a paintbrush and a varnish to secure. Then apply glue to the outer surface of the mug and apply the decorations. Leave to dry for a few hours, then apply a coat of varnish to fix the whole thing.

Make sure the varnish is suitable to 'work with' food if it will come into direct contact with the mouth. You can also omit the contact area to make the gift safe.

Why is it cool?

A self-decorated mug is a great way to bring a bit of joy into everyday life. Not only is it a practical gift, but it's also an elegant addition to your home or office that's sure to catch the eye and add a touch of glamour to any morning beverage.

Community mug.

To whom to give it?

.

A decorated mug will be the perfect gift for those who love objects that are both beautiful and practical - friends, family members or colleagues. Keep in mind, however, that some people may not be fond of such fanabies, so make sure this form of decoration will appeal to the recipient.

Beeswax scented candle

.

How to make one?

.

To make a scented candle from beeswax, you need: a block of beeswax, wicks, a stick, a glass container, a pot and fragrance oil. Start by attaching the wick to the bottom of the glass container, using glue (you can also put on a ready-made wick with a stand). Then use a chopstick (this can be a wooden spatula for stirring coffee or a skewer stick) to hold the wick vertically in the centre of the glass container.

In the next step, heat the wax in a pot over a low heat until it is completely melted. Once it s liquid, add a few drops of your favourite fragrance oil, stirring gently but thoroughly. Carefully pour the melted wax into a glass container, taking care not to move the wick. Leave the candle to set completely, preferably overnight.

.

Why is it cool?

.

Beeswax candles not only smell beautiful, they also have a number of other benefits. They produce a natural, warm light and are more environmentally friendly than many commercial paraffin candles. In addition, they do not emit toxic fumes, making them safe for health.

Who to give it to?

.

Beeswax candles are the perfect gift for almost anyone. They can be a lovely gift for teachers, family, a partner or a secret gift for someone you are just getting to know. Their natural light and fragrance are sure to brighten and warm any interior.

Timber slice photo frame

.

How to make it?

.

To make a wooden photo frame, you'll need: wooden slices (you can get them from craft shops or make them yourself), as well as glue and varnish or wood oil.

Begin by arranging the wooden slices into the shape of a frame - you can outline it on cardboard beforehand to make it easier. Once you have your dream configuration, use wood glue to stick the individual slices together. Once the glue has dried, apply a coat of varnish or oil to protect the wood and give it a nice, natural sheen.

Why is it cool?

.

The wood slice photo frame is a stylish and original way to display your favourite photographs. Each one will be unique thanks to the natural variations in shape and colour of the wood. And the softness and naturalness of the wood will add a lot of warmth and character to any interior.

To whom to give it?

.

This photo frame with a photo of a loved one, a shared photo or a memory is a unique and personal gift that is sure to work well for family or a partner.

Painted plates

.

How to make them

.

To create painted plates you will need: white plates (ceramic or porcelain), porcelain paints and brushes. Also make sure the plates are clean and dry before you start.

Before you start, make sure the plates are clean and dry.

Begin painting with porcelain paints according to the pattern you have chosen. You can also use stencils to make your work easier. Remember that some paints may need to be baked in the oven to fix the design, so read the instructions on the paint package at the start of your work. Allow the plates to dry completely after the painting process is complete.

Why are they cool?

.

Painted plates are not only functional dishes, but also true works of art that add character to any meal. All the patterns you create on them will make your tableware unique and full of personal style.

Who to give them to?

.

Painted plates are the perfect gift for someone who appreciates unique and artistic items in their home. They will look great on the wall in the kitchen or on the table at a special dinner party.

Painted plates are the perfect gift.

Painted plates will therefore be the perfect gift for art lovers, foodies, and those who love unique home accessories. You might also consider adding a note with a description of your design to add more of a personal touch to your gift.

Christmas gifts in numbers

.

Let's not kid ourselves, DIY gifts are a rarity. We buy gifts most often, as looked at in a study conducted by Quality Watch on 1,042 adult Poles in 2022. What can be learned from this analysis?

.
  • Last year, one in 10 Poles completely gave up on giving Christmas gifts to loved ones. The reason for this was most often rising inflation.

  • .
  • As many as 35% of Poles declared that they would buy most of their gifts online, and slightly fewer (27%) that they would buy as many gifts online as stationary.

Tested tips for gift savings

.

Developing an effective strategy for Christmas gift savings is the key to a calmer Christmas. After all, let's not kid ourselves - this is the time of year when we spend the most on gifts. That's why all savings are at a premium (literally).

.

Below you will find 5 effective (I tested it myself) tips that will allow you to save even a few hundred zlotys on Christmas gifts.

.

1. Buy gifts early

.

Planning ahead is one of the simplest, yet most effective ways to save money on your Christmas shopping. Many people know this, but few use it correctly.

From the start, establish a list of the people you will be buying gifts for and the budget you want to allocate. Remember to factor in all potential costs, including not only the gift itself, but also the packaging or shipping costs.

Follow up with a list of the people you will be buying for and the budget you have set.

Then you can start looking for suitable gifts for each person on your list. Doing this in advance will give you more time to compare prices, check out different options, or wait for promotions and sales.

This is the perfect time to do this.

This is the perfect time to take advantage of  "Black Friday", which falls about a month before Christmas. Discounts can then reach up to a few tens of per cent

.

Pre-planning, allows you to keep full control over the whole process, so you can avoid the stress of buying a last-minute gift.

2. Use loyalty programmes

.

Using loyalty programmes is another way that you can make big savings on your Christmas gifts. Shops often offer attractive offers for regular customers, and collecting points and taking advantage of promotions is an ideal opportunity to save on gifts.

    .
  • Collect and redeem points. Most shops offer loyalty programmes based on collecting points for purchases, which can then be exchanged for products or discounts. You will find such solutions in both online and stationary shops.
  • .
  • Take advantage of promotions for regular customers. Shops often offer special promotions for regular customers. These can be birthday discounts, favourable offers thanks to a newsletter subscription, or access to exclusive sales.
  • .
  • Explore loyalty card bonuses. Loyalty cards not only allow you to collect points, but often offer additional bonuses, such as free online shipping, longer turnaround time, or discounts on certain product categories.

3. Compare prices

.

If you're not comparing prices, you're losing money - seriously. This is one of the most important elements of a frugal approach to gift shopping and beyond. In the age of the internet, this task is very easy. You can easily find plenty of websites and apps that allow you to compare prices of products in different shops, which will help you find the most cost-effective deal.

But beware, because sometimes you can get cut. Firstly, it's not uncommon to find a product £5 cheaper in one shop, but you have to add £10 more for delivery, which misses the point. What's more, remember that a price that's too low should also make your red light go on - there's no shortage of shops of dubious quality on the internet.

The main purpose of comparing prices is, of course, to find the best deal. But that's not the only benefit. By the way, you will also unintentionally check the reviews of the product in question. This way, you can realise in time that a particular gift is not the best choice after all.

4.

4. Make big orders

.

Yes, it's a bit of a paradox, but by spending more, you can sometimes save a lot. And this is where we ll stop for a moment. It's not about always filling your basket to get free delivery or a discount. Never forget your shopping list from point one.

.

Sometimes, however, you can easily combine the purchase of two gifts and get it done in one shop. A good example would be buying cosmetics for your sister and perfume for your mother. You can easily find both products in the drugstore. What effect can you expect? Let's do the maths.

Assuming that you would buy both gifts separately, you would have to add delivery to each of them, the cost of which is probably 15-20 PLN. Combining the products, on the other hand, will make the delivery one. What is more, you can sometimes exceed the free shipping threshold in this way. As a result, the saving can be as much as £40 (and we're only talking about two gifts).

.

5. Check out used products

.

I agree, buying second-hand gifts can seem un-elegant. But in many cases, it really is a great solution. On auction portals, you can easily find numerous products that look like new, and their prices can be several tens of percent lower.

What's more, it's also an interesting idea for people with the soul of an artist. For them, items that have some history can be much more valuable than new products.

How to wrap gifts?

.

It's the inside that counts, it's true, but when it comes to gifts, packaging is just as important. It reflects your respect for the giftee. That's why it's really worth taking a few moments to wrap your gift nicely. What do you need for this?

  • Gift paper. The best choice is a decorative one, although this also depends on the gift itself. If it is more serious, you can also opt for a single-colour paper. Also focus on the grammage - paper that is too thin will tear, and paper that is too thick can be difficult to fold.
  • Staples or ribbons. Without them, you won't wrap your gift nicely. A few weeks before Christmas the shop shelves are overflowing with such products, which is why you will find them not only in stationery shops but also in numerous markets.
  • Adhesive tape. The best choice is the classic transparent tape. It is elegant and will not ruin the look of the whole composition. But beware - if you've chosen thick paper that is difficult to bend, go for double-sided tape - it will make your job easier.
  • .
  • Additions. Stars, feathers, bows and other elements are the so-called icing on the cake. They can add a lot of charm to a package, but sometimes they can also... ruin it completely. In gift wrapping, it is not uncommon for less to be more, so be careful with extras.
  • .

How to pack a gift classically step by step?

.
  1. Lay out the paper on a flat surface, such as a desk or table, and then measure the amount needed. Remember to make sure that on the sides of the package, the paper sticks out to the correct length.
  2. Paste a small piece of paper onto the package.
  3. Apply a small piece of double-sided tape to the long sides of the paper, using them to wrap the gift.
  4. .
  5. Fold the shorter edge of the paper inwards and stick it to the gift.
  6. .
  7. Glued the forming 'wings' of the paper to the gift, as well as each subsequent triangular piece of paper that appears.
  8. .
  9. Repeat these steps for the last side of the gift.
  10. .

Japanese style gift wrapping - how to do it?

.

If classic gift wrapping is too boring for you, it's worth considering the Japanese school. You will need an elegant material to use it. I recommend this solution for wrapping gifts in cardboard boxes - it can be really tricky when dealing with irregular shapes. How do you do it?

  1. Place the material (with even edges) on a table or desk so that it forms a rhombus (a square turned 45 degrees).
  2. Grab the bottom corner of the fabric and place it over the gift. Then repeat with the top corner, and tuck the protruding part of the fabric under the gift.
  3. Fold both edges of the fabric inwards, place it over the gift and do the same on the other side.
  4. .
  5. Tie the fabric in the middle of the gift so that it forms a bow.
  6. .
  7. In the middle of the knot you can put, for example, mistletoe or any other element that you associate with Christmas.

What should be included on a Christmas gift card?

.

A Christmas gift card is a good way to convey a personal message with your warmest wishes. Any addition straight from the heart will add a special touch to your gift. What is worth thinking about?

Christmas wishes

.

Let's not kid ourselves - Christmas wishes are the heart of any gift card. They are the ones that convey the deepest emotions and best intentions, reflecting the atmosphere of love, joy and peace that characterises the festive season. They can take a variety of forms, from the traditional greetings, known as formulas, to more personally directed words addressed to the recipient.

When writing wishes, it is worth focusing mainly on making sure they are sincere and come straight from the heart. It's good if they can reflect what you value most about the person or how you feel about them. You can also add wishes for happiness, health and prosperity for the coming year.

It is equally important that the wishes are written in accordance with the cultural and religious traditions of the person to whom you are offering them. You can therefore introduce Christmas wishes typical of a particular tradition, which will certainly be appreciated. All this makes the gift much more personal and special.

.

Christmas illustrations

.

Adequate illustrations on gift cards add charm and create a truly festive atmosphere. These can be traditional images such as Christmas trees, stars, bells or snowflakes, or more abstract solutions such as candles lit in a window. These images, full of colour and light, help to express the joyful and loving spirit of Christmas.

When creating a card like this, it's worth experimenting with different styles of illustration, from drawings to watercolours to collage. Colourful, hand-drawn illustrations can add a unique touch and personal touch to the card, making the recipient feel special.

>

Dedication

.

A dedication on a gift card allows you to express a special tenderness towards the recipient. It is a few words that show how much you appreciate that person and how they have influenced your life. This can include affectionate words, memories that you connect with that person, or thanks for helping, supporting or simply for being a part of your life.

>

Remember, however, that writing a dedication requires some thought, as it aims to take on a more personal tone than traditional greetings. The idea is to emphasise the unique relationship between you and the recipient of the gift.

Make sure that you are aware of the gift.

So think about what makes this person special to you, what unique qualities characterise them and what the best moments you have had with them are.

What else can you put on a Christmas greeting card?

.
    .
  • Motivational quotes. Famous words from famous writers, philosophers or inspirational figures can add depth to your wishes.
  • Individual decorations. Additions such as stickers, ribbons, or stamps can make your card more visually appealing.
  • Pictures. A photograph of a shared experience or a portrait of the recipient can transform the card into something more personal.
  • Short story. If you're good at writing, a surprising poem or short story about the recipient or the holidays can be the fruit of your creativity.
  • Drawing or sketching. If you can draw, a hand-drawn sketch can add uniqueness to your gift card.

What are the most common mistakes when choosing gifts?

.

Choosing a birthday gift is already quite a challenge. And then you only have to buy it for one person. At Christmas, the matter is much more serious. That's why it's worth checking out the most common mistakes made when choosing gifts. That way you won't duplicate the mistakes of others.

Buying "for yourself"

.

A common mistake is buying a gift that suits our tastes and preferences more than those who will receive it. This mistake often stems from thinking that what we like must also appeal to others.

This can result in awkwardness when we give something we like and the recipient feels that their interests and preferences have not been taken into account.

It is worth simply asking about the gift recipient's preferences or paying attention to what they themselves have expressed as something they need. Not only will this help to avoid buying 'for yourself', but it will also make the recipient feel heard and understood.

Choosing alcohol

.

Yes, alcohol is not uncommonly a good Christmas gift. Even so, it's a potentially risky choice, especially if you're not entirely sure of the recipient's preference or attitude to alcoholic beverages.

Some people may lead a sober lifestyle, be abstainers for health or ethical reasons, or simply dislike a particular brand or type of liquor.

If you are absolutely certain that the recipient will enjoy such a gift, a well-chosen alcoholic beverage can be an appropriate gift. For example, a bottle of your favourite wine or special whisky might be appreciated by a connoisseur. However, if you doubt this even a little, it is definitely better to forgo alcohol as a gift.

Excess of form over substance

.

Christmas is a period that should focus on spending time with loved ones, celebrating love and joy, as well as religious aspects, rather than expensive and extravagant gifts. When a gift is too expensive, it can suggest that we have not understood the true spirit of Christmas, plus make the recipient feel uncomfortable (also feeling obliged to buy an expensive gift).

The more we put into form a gift, instead of focusing on its true value and meaning, the more we run the risk of it being misperceived. Gifts that seem too expensive can also put the recipient in an awkward position, especially if they are unable to reciprocate such a gesture.

Remember that the value of a gift lies not in its price, but in the emotional meaning it carries. Creativity, empathy and understanding of the recipient are far more valuable than the material value of the gift. Instead of focusing on cost, pay attention to the personal aspects that truly reflect your values.

Gift cards

.

Gift cards are often chosen as easy and practical Christmas gifts. Unfortunately - not everyone looks at it that way. Certainly, for one person, a gift card can be the perfect gift, as it gives you the opportunity to choose for yourself what you really want or need.

To others, however, it will seem impersonal or suggest that the gift giver has not taken the time to find something specific. This can make the recipient feel unappreciated, which is certainly not the intention of the gift.

The gift-giver's gift is a gift.

The key, then, is to understand who the recipient will be - if you know someone likes to have options, then a gift card might be a good idea. But if the recipient values the thought and care behind a personal gift, it's better to take the time and consider something more personalised.

Repeatability

Repeatability

.

Buying the same or a similar gift that we've bet on in previous years is a decidedly poor strategy. Repetitiveness can suggest that we haven't put enough effort into thinking about a new, original gift and instead choose something safe and familiar.

This routine can result in our gifts being perceived as requiring no effort or ingenuity. Furthermore, gifting the same thing many times can also look like laziness and a lack of willingness to explore new possibilities. This goes against the true spirit of gift-giving, which should symbolise attention, care and understanding.

So let's try to make each gift unique and reflect the developing interests, passions and needs of the recipient. Christmas is the perfect time to show loved ones that we are attentive to their needs and that we want to celebrate with them what's important to them through conscious, thoughtful gifts.

Considerate gifts.

What else to avoid when giving gifts at Christmas?

.
    .
  • Giving gifts that may evoke negative feelings, such as exercise equipment to a person who is not physically active.
  • Giving gifts that may evoke negative feelings.
  • Giving gifts that are too personal or intimate unless you are sure they are appropriate for the relationship with the recipient.
  • Giving gifts related to controversial topics such as religion or politics.
  • .
  • Giving a gift of your own hobby or interest, unless you are sure you know the recipient shares it.

Who "gives" presents at Christmas in different regions of Poland?

.

Christmas in Poland is rich in a variety of gift-giving traditions. Depending on the region, the role of the giver can be played by different characters - from the Infant Jesus, to the Christmas star, to Grandfather Frost. What does it look like in different regions of Poland?

  • Child Jesus. According to tradition, it is the Child Jesus who brings gifts on Christmas Eve. This custom is particularly strong in regions with strong Catholic roots, such as the Lesser Poland region.
  • Christmas Eve.
  • Starry man. The starry man often visits homes in Greater Poland, where he distributes gifts at Pasterka or the following morning. He is a figure often depicted as an elderly man with a long white beard and a sack full of presents.
  • Grandfather Frost. This Christmas giver, popular in Russia, has also become famous in some regions of Poland, especially those closely adjacent to the eastern border. Grandfather Frost brings presents on New Year's Day.
  • Angel. In some regions of Poland, it is the Angel who offers presents. This is most often the custom observed in Silesia and some parts of Lesser Poland.
  • .
  • Saint Nicholas. Although Father Christmas most often presents gifts to children on 6 December, in some regions of Poland he is also responsible for bringing gifts on Christmas Eve.

The most extravagant celebrity gifts for Christmas

.

You read a few moments ago not to buy overpriced gifts. And that's good advice - seriously. But as it turns out, celebrities rarely adhere to it. Gifts worth more than a million dollars are (almost) the norm in the world of popular people. Which gifts stir up the most excitement?

  • Mike Tyson's gold bathtub. The famous boxer paid as much as $2.2 million for a bathtub covered in 24-carat gold, which he gifted to his wife. Unfortunately, the expensive gift did not save the future of their relationship.
  • .
  • Two identical Lamborghinis from Kim Kardashian. North West, daughter of Kim and Kanye West, received a miniature model of the luxury car for her first Christmas. The same car, but in full size, was given to Kanye.
  • .
  • Diamond ring from Tyga for Kylie Jenner. The rapper gifted his girlfriend with a $33,000 diamond ring. Although to many it seemed like an engagement ring, this was not the case. What's more, the couple separated a year later.
  • .
  • Waterfall from Angelina Jolie for Brad Pitt. The actress gifted her husband the land surrounding the waterfall, fulfilling his dream of having a home overlooking this natural wonder.
  • Rolls Royce from Nick Cannon for Mariah Carey. For as much as $400,000, the musician bought a luxury vehicle for his wife, which, despite their short-lived marriage, still attracts a lot of attention from the paparazzi.
  • Two classic Ford Thunderbirds. The Kardashian sisters, who are known for their generosity, gifted their mother with two identical 1956 model cars.
  • A diamond ring worth $200,000. Jude Law hid the expensive gift in a piano he had restored, a romantic touch to his tumultuous relationship with Sienna Miller.

United States

In the USA, gifts are given on 24 December in the evening, by the Christmas tree. In some families, gift-giving also takes place in the morning of the following day. Gifts there are often ordered from Father Christmas, who, according to traditional tales, brings them in a sack by getting into the houses through the chimney.

The gifts are given in a sack.

Australia

In Australia, as in the USA, gift-giving takes place on the morning of 25 December. It is also a tradition to hand out so-called Christmas crackers - special pipe-shaped decorations that, when torn open, make a loud sound and hide a small gift inside.

Australia

France

In France, the tradition is that it is "Père Noël" (Father Christmas) who brings presents to the children. The children place their shoes under the Christmas tree, which "Père Noël" fills with presents.

Spain

In Spain, Christmas presents are given less than in other countries because most gifts are distributed on January 6, Epiphany Day.

Japan

In Japan, Christmas is not considered a religious holiday, but as a time for gift-giving. Gifts are bought for loved ones, but also for co-workers and neighbours.

FAQ

.
. Are there any interesting gift wrapping techniques that could make my gift look even more appealing? .

Yes, there are many creative ways to wrap gifts. You could try using other materials instead of standard wrapping paper, such as fabric, old maps, newspapers or even wallpaper. Also consider using non-traditional decorations such as Christmas tree branches, cinnamon sticks or dried flowers.

An additional different option is to wrap gifts in 'gift bags' made of fabric. Not only is this an eco-friendly option, it's also practical - you can easily adjust the size of the bag to suit the size of your gift.

The gift bags are also made of fabric.

. Where can I buy original gift wrapping ornaments?.

A variety of gift wrapping decorations can be found in many places. Traditionally, stationery shops and bookshops often offer a large range of Christmas decorations.

However, you should also think about looking for more unique decorations in craft shops or Christmas markets. You can also make your own decorations - for example, tie a gift with string and add a sprig of conifers, feathers or dried flowers.

However, you may also want to look for more unique decorations.

. Are there any apps or tools that could help me wrap a gift?.

Although gift wrapping is traditionally a manual activity, there are some tools and apps that can help with the process. For example, you will find special scissors for complex designs that allow you to create decorative edges on wrapping paper.

On the internet, you will also find many video tutorials demonstrating different gift wrapping techniques. Some apps also offer wrapping paper size calculators to help you determine how much paper you'll need to wrap a particular gift.

The following are some of the best ways to use wrapping paper.

. Is there a universal wrapper that I can wrap any gift in?.

Gift bags are a good choice if you are looking for a universal solution. You can customise them to suit the size of your gift, and they come in a variety of designs and colours to suit your preferences.

Another versatile solution are boxes - available in a variety of sizes and styles, and combined with a beautiful ribbon, they can make the perfect gift wrap.

. What are the most important rules when wrapping gifts?.

The most important rule is to remember that gift wrapping is a form of respect and care for the person you are gifting. The gift should be properly protected and the paper or fabric should not be torn or soiled.

Another valuable rule is to opt for simplicity - too much decoration or overdone packaging can overshadow the gift itself.

. Can I use old materials for gift wrapping?.

Of course, using old materials is a great way to add individuality to your gift, as well as being more eco-friendly. An old newspaper, a map or even a page from a manga can be used as original wrapping paper.

On the other hand, textiles, such as old scarves, can serve as an alternative to gift bags or decorative paper.

. How can I reuse wrapping paper after Christmas?.

After unwrapping your presents, instead of throwing the wrapping paper away, you can fold it and store it until next year. You can also use it to make Christmas decorations, such as stars to hang on the tree. Other ideas include using it as a background for a photo frame or as a decorative element in scrapbooking.
