The Syoss brand offers both toners for brown, dark hair and products for blondes. Which Syoss toner is best? This of course depends on your hair type. Here, we discuss the most popular lines of Syoss hair toners and ask what experts and people who have used them think.

Syoss Root Retoucher

Syoss Root Retoucher

Toning spray paint. Temporarily covers up and gives color to roots. Good coverage and instant application.

  • Type and consistency: spray coloring powder.
  • Durability: until the first wash
  • Effects: darkening, temporarily covering up imperfections and gray hair.
Product description

Temporary opaque spray paint with a powdery consistency in several shades to choose from. Improves the color of roots in crisis situations and helps them “last” until the next coloring.

In addition to these three toners, you can also find toning shampoo in popular drugstores, which has gentle brightening properties. It is primarily designed for blonde, bleached and grey hair, although you will also find products for dark blonde and even brown hair. You will maintain the toning effects with these products.

Syoss colour palette (for blonde, brown and dark hair)

.

The Syoss Color Toner range doesn't offer much choice. In the palette you will find the shades Platinum, Deep Brunette (deep brown), Warm Brunette (warm brown), Cool Brunette (cool brown), as well as Copper, Rouge and Black.

The Color Glow range includes shades:. Platinum, Cool Brunette, Deep Brunette, Copper and Pantone-inspired colours: Coral Gold, Pompeian Red, Roasted Pecan and Lavender Cristal.

Syoss Retouch.

Syoss Retoucher can be found in Brown, Dark Blonde, Cashmere Red, Black or Dark Brown, among others.

.

How to use the Syoss toner?

.

Classic hair toner in the form of a dye, cream or fluid can be used at home. It is not difficult and you will do it in just a few steps:

.

  1. Wash your hair - if it's severely sensitised, use a light conditioner all over before treatment.
  2. Dry hair with a towel but leave it damp - it is safer to apply toner to wet hair.
  3. Make small separations with a comb.
  4. .
  5. Apply toner - start at the roots of the hair, do it quickly and don't regret the product. Comb through your hair thoroughly to make sure the toner gets everywhere. Use protective gloves.
  6. .
  7. Keep the toner on your hair - the maximum time can be found on the manufacturer's leaflet. Be more suggestive of how your hair reacts to the toner. Every few minutes, pull the toner off one strand with your fingers and assess whether you are satisfied with the effect.
  8. .
  9. Rinse your hair thoroughly
  10. .
  11. Apply conditioner to close the hair's cuticles.

The longer you keep the toner on, the more lasting and intense the effect will be. However, with very light and sensitive hair, this can be risky. It catches the pigments quickly, and the colours usually come out much cooler than you want.

Daily grooming is also about looking after your skin and nails.

Syoss toners - expert opinion

.

The Syoss brand is part of the Schwarzkopf concern. You can find both their dyes, toners and care products in popular drugstores such as Hebe and Rossman.

Syoss hair dyes and toners are also available in a wide range of stores.

What she thinks of Syoss products we asked hairdresser, stylist and blogger, Adrianna Pydzinska.

Syoss Color Toner and Color Glow

.

Convenient option for use at home. Everything is encapsulated in one tube. You don't need any activator. You simply apply.

.
I do not use these products in my daily work as they are not professional toners. The colour palette is poor and the toner itself will not last long on the hair. However, it's a good option for refreshing your hair between colourings or a temporary frenzy when you want to try a copper or lavender shade on light hair.

Syoss Root Retouch

.

Hides grey roots - a salvation for brunettes. Just a few seconds and you can't see them.

Helps create a visual effect as if you have more hair. Simply apply it at the roots in areas where there is less hair - such as the bends. The downside is that the colour only lasts until you wash it out.

Rather use it on the roots.

Rather for emergency use - once in a while won't do any harm. I wouldn't recommend using it every day - due to its powdery texture, it clogs the hair follicles and can irritate the scalp.

It's not recommended for daily use.

Syoss toners - user reviews

.

On popular websites and forums, opinions on Syoss toners - Color Toner and Color Glow - are divided.

.

As advantages, the simple and quick application and the efficiency - up to three uses per pack - are often highlighted.

.

Some people are very appreciative of the results they achieved - sometimes they were even better than they expected. The hair was soft, smooth and the colour lasted for several weeks.

Some people have found the results to be very pleasing.

There were also claims that the toner applied well, did not run off the hair and... that's where the pluses end.

FAQ

.
. Is hair toner a dye? .

Yes, a toner is a hair dye. However - unlike permanent dyes - it does not penetrate deep into the hair, but instead envelops the surface of the hair. This is why the intense colour only lasts on the hair for a few to several washes. The best toners are safe, and the substances they contain additionally nourish and care for the hair.

. What is a hair toner cream? .

Toners are hair colouring products that differ in formulation, composition and form of application. Toners do not penetrate the hair structure, so they are ideal for correcting, refreshing the colour between colourings, and getting rid of yellow highlights from the hair. Their composition allows you to use them more often, without worrying about their condition.

. What type of Syoss toners can I choose? .

It all depends on what effect you want to achieve. For refreshed and cooler colour, Syoss Toner is best. For darker hair and a bolder shade, get Syoss Glow. And for unruly roots before going out, use the Root Retouch spray toner. Check out the products featured in our ranking of the best hair toners.

. How long to keep Syoss toner on your hair.

Syoss toner is best kept for 15-45 minutes. The longer the toner is on your hair, the more intense the effect you will get. After the treatment, rinse your hair with cool water. Apply conditioner to close the cuticles - your hair will be smoother and have more shine. Remember to read the manufacturer's leaflet and directions at the start. For bleached and sensitised hair, do a test on one strand to see how your hair reacts to the toner.

. How do I choose a hair toner? .

Hair toner should be chosen according to the condition and state of your hair, as well as the results you want to achieve. You will choose a different toner for natural hair, another for coloured hair. Another for dark, brown or blonde hair, and another for highlights or ombre. Choose toners with a safe formulation: with reduced (or no) ammonia and without PPD, which can cause allergic reactions. For more advice, see our hair toner ranking.

. Does hair toner wash out completely? .

Hair toner washes out faster than traditional hair dye. The intense effects last for several weeks or 8-10 washes. This is all because the toner does not penetrate deep into the hair structure, but only envelops the surface. The more often you wash your hair, the quicker the toner will wash out. Using anti-dandruff shampoos will also speed up the process.

. Does Syoss toner damage hair? .

Both professional hair toners and those for use at home rely on the safety of application. Syoss toner does not dry, weigh down or damage hair.
